Summer snapdragons (Angelonia) are both heat and drought tolerant. Although the actual flowers are dainty on these upright flowers there are LOADS of them giving big impact. Can be used as cut flowers.

Cape Daisy (Osteospermum) have a pretty daisy-like appearance. They come in lots of different colors and have a signature purple ‘ring’ around the center of the flower. They are happy in sun to part sun and work well in both the landscape and basket combos. In the landscape, they are quite drought tolerant compared with many annuals. Assorted varieties. Zinnias are a garden favorite for good reason! They offer bright, colorful blooms even in heat and drier conditions. Try some of these in larger pots or in your garden. Deadhead early on and the plant will become extra bushy. Zinnias can also be used for cutflowers to brighten up your kitchen counter.

Violas are one of the earliest annuals that you can plant. They can take more sun than pansies but will appreciate consistent water in a sunny spot. Great in pots as well as the landscape. Will often re-seed in beds.

Sweet William (Dianthus) is a great bloomer for the beginning and end of the season when temps are more mild. Bright cheerful blooms appear on short dependable plants. Floral lace types offer ‘lacy’ serrated blooms.
